Welcome to Joyful, Missouri in 2023. A small town in disrepair, consigned to the lists of forgotten municipalities in the American Midwest. It's the perfect place for The Golden Gorgon Spirit Shop, a safe haven for the oppressed and abused. The arrival of a battered woman and her psychic daughter wakes an evil elemental that feeds on division, conflict, and suffering.

A ghost's existence is mostly crust with no filling. For most, they sit with their thoughts and life experiences, pondering the why's of their inability to cross over. A select few are tasked by the spiritual higher powers to a greater afterlife, given powers and abilities to communicate with and protect the living from aethereal dangers and oppressors.

When the elemental infiltrates their home to feed on the suffering and loneliness of an abused child, the ghosts must cope with their own life traumas as they scramble to weaken and hinder an evil older than civilization.

The intersecting journeys of the ghosts, a recovering woman and her lonely daughter, a soft-hearted police officer, a reckless but well-intentioned ghost hunter, and a misanthropic psychic witch, leads to a showdown between the agents of divine love and the purveyors of primal domination.
