These pages are not on one subject, nor are they about one era, or one art, but rather they are diverse, for they are about our Arab poets, the heroes of our history, and the icons of our thinkers, all of whom grew up on this good Arab land, and were raised in different schools, and diverse environments. Some of them lived in the tenth century AD, and some of them lived in this twentieth century, and between them there are ten centuries of thought, time, place, and circumstances. But their biographies are focused on our cultural, historical, intellectual, and literary glories, and they are what built this lofty edifice of which we are proud. These icons succeeded one another in the fields of jihad, and each of them placed a precious brick in this structure, so talking about them is talking about structures, civilization, and pride. These prominent figures moved to the farthest reaches of this good and blessed land. They were raised in one Arab region and died in another. They defended the borders of this great Arab unity with their pens and their teeth. They poured the light of their eyes and the flower of their youth for the sake of this Arab people for generations, and they died for the sake of this eternal Arab flame.
