Kahlil Gibran(January 6, 1883-April 10, 1931) was a Lebanese-American artist, poet, and writer of the New York Pen League. A native of what is now Lebanon, he immigrated with his family to the United States, where he studied art and began his literary career, writing in both English and Arabic. He is chiefly known in the English-speaking world for his 1923 bookThe Prophet.Neil Douglas-Klotz, PhD, is a world-renowned scholar in religious studies, spirituality, and psychology. Living in Scotland, he directs the Edinburgh Institute for Advanced Learning and for many years was co-chair of the Mysticism Group of the American Academy of Religion.
