Santanu Mitra, an Indian Economic Service (IES) [and an ex-Indian OrdnanceFactories Service (ex-IOFS)] officer in the Government of India, is currently postedas Senior Economic Adviser in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. He had a brief stintof 8 months as a journalist in the ABP Group before joining the Government inSeptember, 1993.He had done his Hons. Graduation in Economics from the then Presidency College (now Presidency University), Calcutta (Kolkata), in 1990, after passing out his Secondary Examination from Hooghly Collegiate School, Chinsurah, Hooghly, West Bengal, India, and Higher Secondary Examination from St. Xavier's College (now St. Xavier's University), Calcutta. He is also an alumnus of the Indian School of Business with a one-year PG Course in Public Policy (AMPPP).He has been involved in planning and formulation of public policy for more than two decades. He has three Bengali books to his credit.
