Autorenporträt
Autorin Sonja Schrottenbach wurde 1973 in Judenburg geboren. Sie machte die Ausbildung zur Kindergarten- und Hortpädagogin und arbeitet seit 1996 in Wien und seit 2015 in der Steiermark in diesem Beruf. Die Naturverbundenheit, die sich Schrottenbach zum Hobby macht und die oft mit langen Aufenthalten in Wäldern einhergeht, wird auch in ihrem Erstlingswerk "Armendum und die alten Wälder" sichtbar. Denn die Wälder spielen nicht nur als Setting eine große Rolle, sondern sind in ihrem Wesen Teil der Geschichte. Sie bieten Schutz, führen Liebende zusammen und beherbergen die großen Geheimnisse der Elbenkunst. Der Wald selbst wird zu einer Figur des Romans. Auch ihre Liebe zu Tieren findet in Schrottenbachs Werk Erwähnung, so ist ein schwarzer Rappe eines der honorigsten Geschenke, das ein Zwerg erhält. Das Interesse an Archäologie und Geschichte, das Schrottenbach von klein auf prägte, kann sie ebenso im Text verarbeiten.
