Autorenporträt
Dr. Don Cabbage holds two PhD degrees from respected Christian universities and has been teaching American Sign Language professionally since 1963. Over the course of more than five decades, he has worked among Deaf communities in many countries, becoming fluent in thirteen different sign languages and bringing the gift of communication to people across cultures. His journey began in college when he met Betty Rice, a Deaf woman who would become his wife, lifelong partner, and fellow missionary. Together, they traveled the globe-from the Americas and the Caribbean to Europe, Asia, and even behind the Bamboo Curtain-meeting the spiritual, educational, and personal needs of Deaf communities worldwide. For 58 years, Don and Betty shared their passion for service and cross-cultural communication. Since Betty's passing in 2022, Don has continued their mission from his home in El Paso, Texas, where he leads the World Mission Society, the American Society for the Deaf, and Don Cabbage Publishing. Through his teaching, writing, and leadership, Dr. Cabbage remains dedicated to breaking down barriers and empowering people through the beauty of sign language.
