Paula Bilyieu Velho was born and raised in Scarsdale, New York. She attended Edgemont Junior and Senior high school. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Principia College. She began her career in New York City as a marketing assistant. She was an elementary school teacher for fifteen years. She has two adult sons and two grandsons. Part of her heritage is from Latvia and Lithuania. She is retired and lives in Central Florida.
