This volume brings together studies on the history of Berlin's university and its theological faculty. It examines the founding phase as well as significant instigators like the brothers Humboldt and Schleiermacher, the major academics and academic organizers of the turn of the following century, in particular Adolf von Harnack, and important personalities from the first half of the twentieth century, such as Werner Jaeger and Hans Lietzmann.
