Laymetha, also known as "Lay," has consistently demonstrated a strong passion for singing and piano performance. Her formative years were marked by notable vocal ability and a steadfast commitment to excellence in music. A native of Middlesex County, Virginia, she graduated with honors from Middlesex High School in 1981 and subsequently completed her secondary education from Old Dominion University in 1987. She later achieved certification as a Business Analyst from George Washington University.Throughout her career, Laymetha has sustained her involvement in music, making television appearances on "Bobby Jones Presents" in February and November 2011. She has performed alongside esteemed artists in the music industry, with her recordings available on platforms including iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby, and Spotify. Additionally, she authored her first self-help book, "Preserving The Gift," and established The Promise Academy Of Virginia, a program supporting girls aged 10-18.Laymetha's theatrical experience includes participation in the ensemble cast of the Firehouse Theatre's "Dessa Rose," which received the 2012 People's Choice Award from the Richmond Theatre Critics Circle. She is actively engaged in philanthropic work, organizing fundraising initiatives She currently serves on the Women's Leadership Council for the Richmond Performing Arts Alliance.Laymetha is married to Linwood Guy, and together they have a daughter, Shaunelle.
