Roman Catholic Modernism and the Catholic Magisterium's response to Modernism, was a significant phase in twentieth-century Catholic theology and history, and it formed an essential part of the context necessary for understanding what led to the Second Vatican Council. Jeffrey L. Morrow is Professor of Theology at Franciscan University of Steubenville (Ohio). He is the author of several books, including Alfred Loisy and Modern Biblical Studies (2019), Modern Biblical Criticism as a Tool of Statecraft (with Scott Hahn, 2020), and Murmuring Against Moses (with John Bergsma, 2023).
