Produktbeschreibung
As Portland reels from drugs and despair, city leaders dream of landing a major league sports team to dazzle investors and forestall economic collapse. Just miles away-but a world apart-families in rural Oregon struggle to survive in a land of dwindling opportunity.

When a beloved small-town ballclub faces elimination and a promising young player vanishes, his mother suspects foul play and calls on investigator Jack Louis. What begins as a missing-persons case soon exposes a brutal struggle: real estate moguls from the city battle rival families from wine country, each desperate to turn old fortunes into new power.

With the help of opportunistic informants, Jack discovers corruption on a grander scale than he imagined. As he digs deeper, a mysterious woman surfaces with the clues he needs ... if he can keep her alive long enough to talk.

Portland's big league dreams ask what Oregon's youth has wondered for years: Is there still a future in the West Coast's last frontier city?
