Every story has a beginning. Every fire starts with a spark.

Before Discarded and Provoked, there was Catalyst; the untold beginning. Haunted by a brutal home, shadowed by loss, and drawn into a world of dangerous choices, Jake stands at the edge of chaos, forced to survive a life that never promised safety.

Raw, dark, and unflinchingly human, this prequel pulls readers deep into the fractured world that shaped him. Against the backdrop of abuse, addiction, and survival, Catalyst explores how the people meant to protect us can break us; and how far one will go to escape the shadows of their past.

How much of who we are is carved by those who raise us? Can we break free from the damage of childhood? And once the fire is lit, do we have the power to extinguish it; or are we doomed to burn?

With taut suspense and relentless emotion, Catalyst is the story of the boy behind the man. The one who learns too young that life can take everything from you, and yet, somehow, you can still rise.

Autorenporträt
Khristopher Burton draws inspiration for his writing from his wife, Dawn Howe, and their daughter, Kita. Coming from a background shaped by complex family dynamics, he writes with raw honesty about survival, resilience, and the pursuit of redemption. Writing is both his creative outlet and a way of grounding himself with ADHD, allowing his characters and stories to lead the way.

He grew up escaping into Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson series and later found inspiration in the darker works of Heather Brewer (Z Brewer). When he writes, he prefers late nights, silence, and heavy caffeine; coffee or Monster always close at hand.
