In 1980s Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Della is a teenager caught between daydreams and danger. While gangs and drugs seep into her once-quiet town, her heart is set on Cheeseburger-a local gang member who doesn't even know she exists.

One moment, she echoes her mother's warnings and despises everything he stands for. The next, she sees the curve of his arms and falls back in love. In her vivid imagination, they're already together-but reality has sharper edges.

Cheeseburger is a lyrical, bittersweet coming-of-age story about unrequited love, obsession, and the blur between fantasy and survival in a world growing colder by the day.
