Prof. ¿Dr. Chen specializes in meteorological hazards and climate change basing on historical research. He is the coordinator of the Chinese meteorological science and technology history and projects of CMA.

His research includes meteorological hazards and climate change, policy assessment of meteorological science and technology and enhancement of meteorological emergency management, evaluating on Environmental safe, history of meteorological science and technology, science popularization in fields such as geosciences and meteorological science.

Prof. Dr. Chen has authored/coauthored over 60 publications and 4 books up to now.
