John Howells has written and coauthored several books about retirement locations, including Choose the South, Choose Mexico, and Choose Costa Rica. He also writes about retirement and travel for mature Americans in magazines such as Consumers Digest and Where to Retire Magazine. John and his wife live in California and Costa Rica.

Richard K. Harris has authored more than twenty travel guidebooks. He has been a director and past president of PEN New Mexico, the southwest's largest professional writers' organization, and a director and officer of the New Mexico Book Association. He lives in Santa Fe.
