The Old Testament states that Yahweh gave Israel the Sabbath as a sign of the MOsaic covenant to test Israel's loyalty and to remind Israel that God is the one who sanctifies them. Yet Christian interpretation of this, for the New Testament believer, ranges from apathy to judgemental zeal in an attempt to answer the question 'Is the Sabbath still required for Christians?'.
