Tan Zhao Lin, also known by his pen name Zadok The Priest, was born on August 23, 1990, in Muar, a small but bustling town in Johor, Malaysia. He graduated with a law degree from the National University of Malaysia and currently works as a full-time lawyer, specializing in property transactions and inheritance matters. He aspires to expand his legal career into fields such as family law, employment law, intellectual property law, and alternative dispute resolution.

Zhao Lin's passion for history, particularly medieval history and ancient civilizations, has always been a significant part of his life. Inspired by his interest in the Mongol Empire's military, he decided to write this historical novel about Batu and the Mongol Empire. In addition to historical fiction, Zhao Lin enjoys writing fantasy stories and exploring subjects related to the military, animals, and outer space. Some of his favorite authors include J.R.R. Tolkien, who has had a profound influence on his writing style. He is also an avid fan of Star Wars, Tolkien's literature, Harry Potter, and the Chronicles of Narnia, which have left a lasting impression on his passion in writing.
