Miss Ann lives in a small town in South Dakota where she once did animal welfare work and also took care of the town's small animal shelter. She bonded with the impounded animals and often offered them the last kindness they received. It was the hardest job she ever had to love because if she had not loved it, she would never have been able to do it. The animals shared their stories with her and some of those stories are reflected in, Coming Home. She will always feel that they gave her far more than she gave them.
