This book is the updated 2025 edition of COMPELLING RESUMES SIMPLIFIED, revealing how to generate the job interviews and offers you deserve. It's the 32nd volume in a forty-book comprehensive Success Training Program. Here, you'll learn how to use the most actionable tactics, techniques, and tools to enhance your ability to create a compelling resume to support your job search. What's the purpose of any resume? I'll bet you think it's about getting a new job, right? Wrong! This could not be farther from the truth. Your resume's ONLY purpose is to make your phone ring, period! This is the ultimate test of your resume. After posting your resume on the web, if your phone doesn't ring, your resume is worthless. Your phone isn't ringing because your resume isn't compelling enough for someone to call. It doesn't speak in a language every employer understands. After reading this book, you'll learn how to convert all your marketing materials, especially your resume, into compelling documents that will make your phone ring for job interviews and offers. I know from experience that there's nothing more stressful than trying to conduct a job search - after losing your job. It's a SCARY time! I've been there! You have no cash flow, and you're surviving on savings and getting help from friends and family. The fear and uncertainty of when you'll be reemployed are crushing on you and your family. Your biggest frustration is the silence; your phone never rings-even after weeks and months of effort. You've done everything you know how to do, and nothing so far has worked. The fear of the unknown, embarrassment, lack of self-worth, and self-doubt are mounting. You're desperate and ready to take any job just to support your family. How much longer can you continue your insane behavior, doing the same thing over and over again while expecting a different result? There must be a better way! Well, there is, and it's time for a change - this is why I wrote this book. I can help you! I bring 21 years of experience as an Executive Coach, helping hundreds of people, from recent college graduates to CEOs, find meaningful employment. I worked for four of the largest consulting, outplacement, and e-cruiting companies in America in Seattle, San Diego, Kansas City, and Phoenix. One of my clients said it best when he wrote, "Thanks to Ed, I learned the secrets of running a successful job search, and in only two weeks, I found my career position. I actually had two offers from which to choose and could leverage that situation to a 10% raise plus a bonus, all before I ever worked a day. Thanks doesn't seem enough." - William S., San Diego, CA Here, I learned the secrets of making my client's phone ring. Without a phone call - your search is dead! You'll need a compelling resume that speaks in a language every employer understands and sells your potential to make your phone ring. This book is unique because it: Comes from my personal struggles finding employment and my clients' struggles over two decades. Teaches you specifically what employers are looking for. Helps you write and speak in a language every employer understands. Everything in this book has worked for me and my clients, and I know they'll work for you! Enjoy the book! Ed

Autorenporträt
Ed Murphy grew up in Western New York and considers himself lucky. From age 7, he knew what he wanted to be when he grew up: a Soldier. Three days after graduating High School, he joined the US Army and completed Basic and Advanced Infantry Training at Fort Dix, NJ.

A year later, Ed became a Cadet at the United States Military Academy at West Point. In 1970, he graduated as a second Lieutenant, went to Airborne and Ranger School, and spent a year in Vietnam.

Ten years later, Ed returned to West Point to teach Military Science and earned an MS from LIU in night school.

During his two years as a Battalion Commander in West Germany, his greatest achievement was helping 1,400 soldiers begin their college education. He wanted to give them something of real value - something no one could ever take away.
He retired a few years after the first Gulf War, Operation Desert Storm.

For his second career, with a little help from Tony Robbins, he spent the next 21 years as an Executive Coach, working with hundreds of business executives, teams, and small business owners in Seattle, San Diego, Kansas City, and Phoenix.

After that, Ed retired again and decided to document everything he learned from those he admired most during his 50+ years in the US Military and Corporate America.

Two years later, he began writing books for Amazon dedicated to providing best practices for achieving greater effectiveness and success in business. Currently, he's authored over 40 books on Amazon.

Today, at 78, Ed considers himself blessed because he gets to live in Mesa, AZ, where there is no snow, ice, massive floods, wildfires, earthquakes, tornados, hurricanes, or tsunamis.

In his retirement, he enjoys the sunshine, writing, eating sushi, genealogy, and spending time with his best friend and wife, Diana.
