#"Conglomeration" is Pat Morrell-Donnelly's thirteenth (13th) book to publish. Or, as her nephew, Bob, refers to it, her "Baker's Dozen." Pat's book contains a collection of poems, stories and articles Pat has written over a fifty-plus year period of time. A large portion of the poems were written in the nineteen-eighties and nineteen-nineties. The poems contain thoughts that have come to her from her decades of experiences, losses, failures and successes throughout Pat's ninety-six years on this earth. Some stories may bring a tear to your eyes, some, possibly, will bring a smile. Some are about life and its tragedies, some about miracles and various experiences. Pat's poems also relate to ones need of "an attitude of gratitude." In spite of vicissitudes and problems of life there are always blessings to count. Hopefully, Pat's poems will be inspirational, and show others there is always hope. "Where you come from does not determine where you are going." Pat's bad marriages probably contributed to her writings, feelings that come through from emotional pain suffered. Her poems reveal about living with verbal and emotional abuse for twenty-six years until that husband passed away. Thankfully, she found happiness at last with the love of her life. She was blessed with fifteen happy years until he passed away from a second stroke. Those of you that have one, or all of Pat's books, have read a number of times about her life. She was born in 1929 and raised during the 1930's depression. There was no electricity, running water or inside bathroom in their small, modest home, until Pat was almost fourteen years of age. At age fourteen Pat's family moved to California. She immediately was hired at a cake and cookie factory, boxing cakes, working four hours a day and attending school four hours a day. She also worked Saturdays, holidays and summers. There was no money for college, but Pat just wanted to go to work full time. She knew if she wanted anything monetarily she would have to work for it. For a time Pat worked at a Naval Air Station as a receptionist, doing office work. She worked modeling in San Francisco, Oakland, and Los Angeles. She would spend over fifty-one years as a Realtor/Broker in the Bay Area of Northern California, working a total of sixty-four years of her life. Pat holds the unique distinction of being the only member of her real estate board to be honored "Miss Realtor" in a contest in 1960. Pat had great losses in real estate, but the most horrific loss was her mother being killed by a drunk driver. Pat's father and nine year old sister were critically injured, with broken bones and cuts and bruises. They were both left with scars and both with a limp. Pat's mother was only forty-five years of age. She was a beautiful, loving mother with so much for which to live. She loved her family, They were her everything. Some things you will never understand. There will never be an answer to your "why?" Why would such a horrific, devastating thing have to happen? Pat published her first book "The Climb Up Life's Mountain" in 2009, at age eighty. She published her twelfth book, "Poverty's Child in Rhyme," 12/19/2024. Pat has written over 2,200 poems. Pat has received responses from four presidents, two first ladies and the Queen of England, for poems she sent to them. She has also written poems for a Governor, a U. S. Senator, four U.S. Congressmen, and two Georgia Representatives. Pat writes motivational and inspirational poems, also religious, political, and poems about lives of individuals. She has had around forty poems read at funerals and memorial services about the deceased individual. Pat has had no courses or special training in writing. She graduated high school "by the skin of her teeth" as the saying goes. She just writes from the heart, from her many, varied experiences and thoughts given to her by God and the Holy Spirit. Living to old age you learn and you grow through varied experiences over the years. If you have a very long life, hopefully, you maintain your mind. Pat feels the gift of writing poetry was given to her for a reason, that she would share the gift to give joy to the reader, or take them away from daily struggles for a little while. Hopefully, they will find encouragement, and it will make a difference in their life from the reading of her poetry. Pat is thankful for the gift God has given her.
