There is a universal God consciousness that is the motive force for the manifestation of the cosmic realm and the physical universe it contains. This consciousness forms various realms of reality as God manifests his creative desires through the activity of mind and spirit. God is Love. To fulfill his desire for loving companionship God created souls, portions of himself, made in his image. True love does not exist in a master-slave relationship, so souls were granted free will. The unique perception and interaction of each soul mind with the reality of the cosmic realm and with fellow souls formed each soul consciousness, which we humans call our subconscious mind. Rebellious souls lost God consciousness when they used their free will in selfish ways that violated spiritual law. To correct this propensity for spiritual error, God created a causal physical realm of spirit-energy where souls can purge selfish traits and restore their God consciousness through incarnation. The perception and interaction of each incarnated soul with the physical realm and fellow incarnated souls forms the physical conscious mind that activates the human body. The manner in which an incarnated soul interacts in human society is of supreme importance to its future. Interpersonal relationships that develop as the conscious mind matures and becomes a participating member of human society are critical to the spiritual growth of the soul. The decisions that a soul makes during life on earth in relation to its inherent spiritual attributes and the spiritual law to which the soul is accountable determines the ultimate fate of the soul. This book explores and discusses important questions about consciousness and reality, mind and spirit, the nature of the soul mind, and the spiritual purpose of the physical universe. We will follow the journey of the wayward soul from its creation, through its spiritual fall and the challenges and value of its experiences as an incarnated soul, to its ultimate destiny in Christ Consciousness.

Autorenporträt

Jeffrey Imes is a retired PhD physicist. His career included geophysical analysis of seismic data to locate oil reservoirs in Libya, Tunisia, and the Gulf of Mexico. He developed computer simulations of groundwater flow through the aquifers of southern Missouri and Abu Dhabi Emirate, worked in Kenya and Djibouti to identify promising locations for village water wells, and worked in Bangladesh studying aquifer production and arsenic contamination. He has many interests that span the range from cosmology and archaeology to spirituality. He has studied the Edgar Cayce readings for about 45 years and appreciates the natural way in which the philosophy of the readings integrate science, Christianity, and aspects of Eastern religions in a coherent non-dogmatic manner. He has written three books that explore the nature of the soul and the interrelation among God, souls, and humanity from the perspective of the readings. The Essenes and the Advent of Jesus (2021) was written as an eight-lesson study guide that combines information from the Edgar Cayce readings and the Bible to present a more satisfying interpretation of the story of events that led to the birth of Jesus, as opposed to the traditional idea that Mary was assigned the role of motherhood with no prior knowledge and complete disregard for her free will. The Spiritual Purpose of the Physical Universe (2022) explores the interface of science and religion as it pertains to the creation of the universe and the nature of the soul. The readings unify scientific and religious thought in a logical way that explains the role of the physical universe as a facility for the rehabilitation of souls that have lost God consciousness. Consciousness, Reality, and the Spiritual Journey of the Wayward Soul (to be published late 2025 or early 2026) chronicles the journey of the soul from its creation in the spiritual realm as a quasi-independent sentient entity to its ultimate destiny as a loving companion of God and co-creator with God.
