This study explores the decisive and seminal decades in the twentieth century in which The Bahamas was transformed from a marginalised, British colony to a modern nation-state. Particular attention is given to party politics and the ideas and ideologies that shaped the modern Bahamas. Additionally, economic policies and budgetary issues will be addressed within the context of political parties attempting to formulate plans for national development and state formation. Autorenporträt
Dr. Keith Tinker:
Dr. Tinker is former Director of the National Museum of The Bahamas. He has held distinguished positions in academia as Visiting Lecturer, University of Florida, Florida Atlantic University and University of The Bahamas. He is an accomplished author of several books on Bahamian history including The Migration of Peoples from the Caribbean to the Bahamas.

Dr. Christopher Curry:
Dr. Curry is currently the Head of the History, Religion and Philosophy Department and Associate Professor of History at the University of The Bahamas. Dr. Curry is also former Director of the National Museum of The Bahamas and has served as a consultant on various national heritage projects. Dr. Curry has published a number of books and articles including a thematic study entitled Freedom and Resistance: A Social History of Black Loyalists in The Bahamas.
