How to end the cycle of violence between Israel and Hamas in Gaza? Create Gaza 2, Protect Israel, Build Peace provides an answer. A bold yet humanitarian approach: Pay the population of Gaza to leave the Strip, while providing Gazans with a safer and better place to live and flourish, on a new island far away from the deadly war zone. As the authors explain, the new island of Gaza 2 can be built from carbon captured from the atmosphere. This is also a solution to the problem of climate change. Where to put Gaza 2? On the seas, the untapped frontier of human habitation, accounting for 71 percent of Earth's surface. Tired thinking has trapped Israelis and Gazans on a treadmill to deadly oblivion. Authors Pinkerton and Starr think outside the box, pointing to innovative technologies that could resolve the greatest crises of our era. James P. Pinkerton has served in two White Houses and three presidential transitions. Author of more than 3,000 articles, he's published three books on economic and policy issues. Dr. Joyce Starr, former director of Near East Studies at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, D.C., has authored 34 books, including 12 on Israel and the Middle East. She describes her efforts to forge water-sharing agreements between Israel and her neighbors in books and numerous special reports. Combined, the authors have worked with seven U.S. and international think tanks on economic, environmental, political, and strategic issues.
