Author's Note
I never set out to be a poet, or to write a poetry collection. It started as a way to scribble thoughts onto scraps of paper, just to stop them rattling around in my head. Over time, those fragments grew into observations, reflections, and emotional echoes. Author's Note

I never set out to be a poet, or to write a poetry collection. It started as a way to scribble thoughts onto scraps of paper, just to stop them rattling around in my head. Over time, those fragments grew into observations, reflections, and emotional echoes. Eventually, they became a kind of map of my inner world, where all the subconscious voices and feelings found a place. Together, they form a reflection of who I am, or at least, how I see myself.

Two themes kept surfacing in my writing: death and desire. They often felt like two sides of the same coin, grief and longing, loss and yearning. So I brought them together here, deliberately alternating between them, to mirror the way we often live: caught between what we've lost and what we ache for.

At this point, I suppose I should offer a health and safety warning. Some of these poems are raw and unfiltered. They may be clumsy, or uncomfortable, or even triggering. But they are honest. They were written in moments of truth, and I've left them that way.

Writing under the name Sat in the Corner gives me the freedom to speak without flinching. It reflects how I often feel slightly on the outside, looking in. Watching the world through a window, seeing a faint reflection of myself in the glass, and writing about that, or about what lies beyond it.

Thank you for reading this.

- Sat in the Corner

Two forces. One voice. A collection of poems that try to explore them both.

In Death and Desire, poet Sat in the Corner invites readers into a world where grief and longing, memory and intimacy, emotional vulnerability and strength all collide.

Each poem is a raw fragment of the often less-than-straightforward human experience-unfiltered, deeply personal, and intentionally arranged to alternate between the themes of loss and lust. This collection explores the emotional terrain we often avoid or feel ashamed of: the ache of absence, the thrill of surrender and control, the burden of regret, and the need to find connection in order to bury what haunts us.

Some pieces whisper. Others scream. All of them speak truth.

Whether you feel too much or not enough, these poems may offer you a moment of recognition, and perhaps, a little comfort.
