Early-Out-the-Gate: One of the first retrospective looks at the specific damage done by four years of a regime intent on wrecking the infrastructure of our government.

Media savvy author: McGarity is a former articles editor at the Texas Law Review and has published in leading venues, including the New York Times, Christian Science Monitor, The American Prospect, and the Houston Chronicle, as well as in many legal and policy publications.

Uniquely qualified author: A professor of administrative law, McGarity has spent four decades focused on the regulatory state.

First trade book: McGarity has published well-received academic books on the regulatory state with Harvard, Yale, and Cambridge. This is a much more accessible look at what the Trump administration hath wrought.

Well-connected author: McGarity is a founding president and board member of the Center for Progressive Reform and has a rolodex of helpful contacts. Ralph Nader and former US Representative Henry Waxman are among his fans.

Demonstrated interest in the topic: Michael Lewis's The Fifth Risk, which is about the importance of the federal government's regulatory agencies and the people who work in them, has sold over 150,000 copies.
