Autorenporträt
Julia Ann Jeffords Krulic, known affectionately as Judy, was a self-taught author and dedicated family historian. Born in Sylvester, Georgia in 1943, Judy's early life in the small South-ern town instilled in her a deep connection to her family's roots and a lifelong commitment to preserving their legacy. After graduating from Worth County High School in 1961, Judy attended Huntington College in Montgomery, Alabama, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1965. Her love for learning and dedication to helping others led her to a fulfilling career at the Georgia Department of Family and Children's Services, where she worked tirelessly to support children and families in need until her retirement in 1997. Judy's true calling, however, was her work as a family historian and genealogist. With little formal training but remarkable tenacity, she embarked on a thirty-year journey to document the life of her great-uncle, Dr. Thomas Cornelius Jeffords, and the broader history of her family. She meticulously pieced together the narrative using primary and secondary sources from libraries and historical societies across the country, demonstrating an un-paralleled commitment to accuracy and detail. Her dear husband, Dr. John Wesley Krulic, and her beloved siblings, David George Jeffords III, Esquire and Mrs. Jane Jeffords Houston, provided unwavering support throughout her research and writing process. Judy's work also benefited from the minor editorial and publishing assistance of her close friend, Dr. Zachary Phillips, who worked with Wesley and Jane, ensuring that their family's history would be preserved for future generations. Judy was a woman of many talents and interests. She was an active member of St. John's Church in Savannah and The National Society of the Colonial Dames of America, to which she contributed her time and skills to various community activities. Her love for the arts, particularly opera, led her to co-found the Savannah Voice Festival, in which she played a significant role in nurturing young artists and fostering their growth. Judy's legacy as a historian, philanthropist, and devoted family member lives on through her writing, her contributions to the arts, and the countless lives she touched with her kind-ness, generosity, and enduring spirit.
