The uncivilized mountain tribes sense the weak ess of the Empire and begin making moves to claim territory. Long absent, the Duke of Thrakia has returned from self imposed exile and sets in motion a series if events that will decide the fate of the Empire. And the men who rule the Empire, the Regents, must decide how to respond to thr Duke's actions before it is too late.

And from the North, a comd wind is blowing, plunging the lands of the normally hothouse Tyrrhenian Empire into an unseasonably cold summer, snow falls on the hills, and families freeze in their hovels.
