Autorenporträt
Martin Kari was born during World War II in Transylvania and began life as a refugee in post-war Germany. Having lived and worked across four continents, he settled in Australia in 1981 with his Finnish wife, Arja, and their six children. His life journey-marked by resilience, migration, and discovery-infuses his writing with a global perspective and a deeply human touch. A truly multilingual author, Martin writes and publishes in both English and German, bridging cultures and perspectives with a single voice. In Echoes between Languages: Two Tongues, One Soul in Poems, his prose poems flow across languages, showing how words in different tongues can mirror, echo, and enrich one another. His poetry speaks directly from the heart, prioritizing truth and clarity over rigid form, inviting readers into shared spaces of reflection, memory, and hope.Martin's work has received international recognition, including honors from Queen Elizabeth II and former German Chancellor Angela Merkel, as well as the Brentano Lyric Prize. His books have been presented at global literary events, including the Frankfurt Book Fair, continuing to connect with readers worldwide.Learn more about his life and publications at martinkaribooks.com.au.
