The Eldest Daughter's Corner is shaped by the perspective of a bedroom window. At any hour, it frames the world and invites closer observation.

The Eldest Daughter's Corner is shaped by the perspective of a bedroom window. At any hour, it frames the world and invites closer observation.

The title stems from an image I have long carried: a large window divided into four panes, each reflecting a different time of day. Sunrise represents hope, the reach for possibility at the start of the day. Afternoon is for watching, noticing the world in motion. Evening is for conversation, the effortless exchanges shared with friend, about love, dilemmas, or the quiet moments in between. And midnight gathers the unsaid: the grief, the words withheld, the feelings held until there is no choice but to set them down on the page.

This collection is for those who have had to be the bigger person, who carry silence yet still move forward. The title, eldest daughter, evokes a role collectively known, one laden with responsibility for things never requested.

Too often, poetry is narrowly tied to romance or heartbreak. These pages create space for something else: longing, weight, and the private reckonings we hold with the world. I began writing at fourteen, and over the years, hundreds of poems accumulatedperhaps more than four hundred. From that abundance, I have curated this selection: enough to stand on its own, enough to resonate.

The Eldest Daughter's Corner is not simply a book of poems. It is a mirror, a shifting window from dawn to midnight, reflecting the raw spirit of those who are finally ready to be heard.
