It never concerned them until one night the sky was on fire, and luminescent beings came flying out of tears in the stars, riding horses with chariots and wielding flaming swords.

Because Ellie has abilities she has not yet discovered, she is drafted into service to help a trapped Guardian travel through the interrealm Omphalos to go back in time. In a bizarre twist, they go back two thousand years to prevent the crucifixion of the King that may have been a mistake.
