Liam had been brought in as a liaison from The Society, to teach Emily about what her role was in the world. What she would have to do once The Society was truly the only thing on Earth that mattered. Liam showed her what her purpose was, thanks to his books, the books penned by Q and the others. She knew that he had used other tricks to make her think the right way. She remembered when he stood in her room, her parents thinking he was her tutor for history, and he gave her the poster of Q and of The Society. "It is all thanks to him," Liam said, pointing to the poster of Q. "Without Q, The Society would be nothing." With his tutelage and some lessons on how to please men on her eighteenth birthday, Liam had told her about the essay contest to try and win a position in The Society's mentee program.
