Produktbeschreibung
This book is my heartfelt contribution to the next generation of families. After 25 years observing parenting through three-day live in visits, the path to lasting change became clear. Every baby knows how to teach their parents. Family happiness begins in the nursery with the simplest transition: putting your baby to bed. This gentle experience teaches the parent how to create space for self-regulation-a baby's first life lesson. An essential building block for emotional intelligence and general wellbeing. When families miss this foundation, they struggle with cycles of correction and intervention. But when mum, dad, and baby all get on board in the nursery-everyone learns how change truly works. It's all about relationships. This is the time to learn how humans work. Then something special happens. Dads support their wives in these early moments, the whole family transforms and stays connected for all of life's struggles. Learn the mechanics of change at the beginning of your parenting journey. Learn once, use forever. Perhaps the gift of less could be your answer to loving your child every day of their lives. Remember your baby is your best teacher.

Autorenporträt
This book is a birthday present to myself on my 70th year. For 25 years, Jenny operated a unique private home visiting practice, travelling around Australia to live in with families when they were in crisis. For 3-5 days she became part of their family-a unique and courageous step that allowed her to witness what most professionals never see. Through thousands of hours of observation, Jenny discovered that children labelled as "difficult" were communicating vital needs. The struggle seemed to start with sleep issues when they were babies. She recognised that exhausted parents already had everything they needed to understand their children. Jenny's pioneering research revealed fathers' crucial role in family wellbeing during early infant development. Her 2011 pilot study was followed by her presenting of a paper focusing on the role of fathers with infants at the WAIMH Conference held in Edinburgh in 2014. This research clearly showed how fathers' mental health directly impacts entire family journeys toward healthy sleep patterns. Jenny believes babies come as teachers, not problems to be fixed. Her approach focuses on understanding what children are trying to communicate rather than managing their behaviour. As a retired paediatric occupational therapist, Jenny is deeply concerned by what she's witnessing today. When she began her career in the 1970s, families certainly faced challenges, but today she's watches families struggle more than ever before, despite having access to more parenting resources than any generation in history. If you're feeling overwhelmed by conflicting advice about raising your child, you're not alone...hence her book
