The Mystic Veil series is set in a time and place in the world where it has been common knowledge for many years that humans were not the only inhabitants of our realm. Others from a supernatural realm had crossed over and lived within our communities alongside humans for many years.

Some Others have integrated into society much more quickly. For example, shifters, fae, and Incubi either had a human form or already resembled humans. People hadn't noticed them living within our communities. But Others, like Orcs and Trolls, had a much more difficult time blending. Even when they used glamour to appear more human, their size tended to set them apart.

A large PR campaign took place to inform humans of the existence of Others. Making people aware Others had been living alongside us for many years. That we, as humans, did not need to fear them. Some embraced Others and developed friendships and even fell in love with them. Unfortunately, some people disliked the idea of supernatural beings living among us. They believed we should segregate them from the human population for safety and to maintain what they considered "right and pure."

Mystic Veil is a small but growing town in Northwest Lower Michigan. There is a close sense of community for all the inhabitants, humans and Others alike. In general, they work, live, and thrive together. Most of these stories happen in Mystic Veil, but some also go to the Supernatural Realm.

In book 1 of the series, Finding Our Forever, we meet Chris and Jarrell.

Chris: I've landed my dream job at Beyond the Veil Cyber Tech. It falls into that category for many reasons. Great pay, fantastic benefits, room for growth, supportive company culture, and a beautiful location. It's in Mystic Veil, several hours away from my family so I can finally get away from their toxicity. What I didn't expect was to make the best friends I've had in my life and fall in love with the most caring man. It doesn't hurt that he's hot, built, and encourages me to explore not only my career dreams but all of my fantasies, too. No matter how kinky my fantasies are or what gender the person in the fantasy is.

Jarrell: I recently moved to Mystic Veil at the urging of my longtime best friend Andrew. I hope this move is everything Andrew has talked it up to be. He says that I can just be myself and maybe even find love. If I'm really lucky, I'll find a bond mate. I'm tired of being lonely and ever since I saw how the love of a bond mate completely changed my buddy's life, it's all I've wanted. As an incubus, I'm open to my mate being any gender, or even being more than one person. Can I find this in Mystic Veil?

Autorenporträt

Marie Allen is a new author, just dipping her toe into the writing world. She began writing forever ago in high school but set it aside as life became busier with work, kids, and chaos. After attending a few book conventions, the urge to write grew, and the words poured out of her fingertips. Before she knew it the Mystic Veil series was born, hopefully you find as much entertainment reading it as she did writing it.

When not writing, Marie shares her life with the non-human contingent of a Newfoundland that thinks she's human, 2 cats that are the most difficult annoying beasts ever to exist and 1 bearded dragon that has a definite dragon personality! Also sharing the household is Marie's husband, who is the caretaker, making sure everyone is kept fed and alive. Her two children who have become such great human's she's amazed daily that they were able to raise and nurture them along. Her son's partner and her mom round out the crazy, chaotic, place she calls home.
