Autorenporträt

Sarah Garlick's resume is tailor-made for this book. She is one of today's leading female rock climbers, as well as an accomplished research geologist and a published author in both rock climbing media and scientific literature. Garlick completed a Master of Science degree in structural geology and tectonics at the University of Wyoming in January 2007 and is currently pursuing a career in science journalism. Garlick received a Bachelor of Science degree from Brown University in 2002, with a dual focus in geology and creative writing. Garlick has climbed extensively throughout North and South America, on all types of geologic terrain, from boulders to sport crags to alpine big walls.

In addition to experience, Garlick has unique access to a critical base of resources, both academic and climbing related. As an alumna of two of the nation's top university earth science departments, Garlick can tap the most current thinking in the geologic community. As an active, traveling climber for over nine years, Garlick belongs to an extensive and diverse network in the climbing community. This network is key to producing material that is interesting and relevant to a broad base of readers.
