Autorenporträt
Mary Shelley (1797-1851) was an English novelist best known for her groundbreaking work Frankenstein, which is considered one of the earliest examples of science fiction. Born to famous parents-philosopher William Godwin and feminist writer Mary Wollstonecraft-Shelley grew up surrounded by intellectuals. She began writing Frankensteinat just 18 years old during a trip to Switzerland with her husband, poet Percy Bysshe Shelley.
