Finding his way to the only newspaper in Miller, Bull gets hired by a beautiful, young Italian woman named Gina, who sends him out on assignments. Over time the two develop a relationship and find a common interest: Both are ecologically minded.

Half-heartedly, the pair decides to design a board game that will point to the truth: There is no way out and the world must prepare for the future.

The game's phenomenal success springboards the couple to fame and riches attracting the attention of enemies adept at keeping the world the way it is.

The two become trapped in a world of their own making and more quickly than anyone had imagined, Earth's climate flips upside down and an entirely new geological epoch begins, forcing the couple and their family to go into survival mode.
