He convinces Liz to run away with him shortly after they meet and eventually lures Liz into the life of drug addiction and codependency. Gold Veins documents their tumultuous relationship of a year and a half, and the event that leads up to both Michael and Liz revisiting Liz's mother to make amends for the past.
