Autorenporträt

Lana Stasek is a Ukrainian-born American author who didn't plan to become one but life had other ideas. She moved to the U.S. in 2006 with two kids and zero English, built a new life, and years later began writing to resist silence and forgetting.

Her debut, Voices Within: Family Chronicles, started as one memoir and turned into a series. Lana writes in Russian the language of her childhood and her sharpest jokes and her daughter Vlada stepped in as editor, challenger, and the voice of another generation.

Her books are not tidy, polite memoirs. They are sharp, sarcastic, and painfully honest because if you don't laugh, you'll scream.
