Hydroxyacetophenones constitute the starting material for a large variety of syntheses in organic chemistry and are amomng the most useful synthetic intermediates in the chemical industry, for example in pharmaceuticals, colours, fragrances, explosives and plastics. In this handbook, the diverse ways of obtaining over 1400 hydroxyacetophenones are described, and their physico-chemical properties and spectroscopic data references are indicated. Here, ketones are classified methodically. They are thus easily accessible from three tables: the molecular formula index, the Chemical Abstracts Registry numbers and the usual names index. Entries on some 1,400 hydroxyacetophenones include b&w structure diagrams and descriptions of their synthesis, properties, and physico- chemical characteristics, plus some 1,600 bibliographic references to spectroscopic data. Includes indexes by CAS number, official nomenclature, and usual name, and a list of abbreviations. For engineers in chemical synthesis and for academic and industrial researchers in various branches of chemistry. This work will prove to be a valuable tool for laboratory work and research and development departments. It is set to become the reference on hydroxyacetophenones.
