In a little place called Salem Massachusetts, Halloween is quite the spectacle for the city's local children. The main character, Jason really wants to enjoy Halloween, and this time he wants to be really scary. He especially wants to scare the living daylights out of Billy Morrison, the obnoxious bully at his school, who is often jealous and emotionally destabilized by Jason's high IQ and natural charm. His friend Carla always defends him and cheers him on. Jason decides to get a leg up on Billy and his friends when he and Carla learn about one of the best Halloween stores in Salem, run by a spooky shop owner named Sven, who sells the best Halloween costumes they have ever seen. But things start to go south when they discover something strange beneath the shop, and not long after, they start to notice strange things happening, around Salem, and Halloween takes a turn for the worse.
