Nora waited for the old Chevy with Tommy and Jimmy, which pulled up outside the bar. The boys jumped out, and she motioned for silence, leading them on a detour through the bushes. They reached the small grove where the man Nora had struck down was still groaning, clutching his head.

There was a grunt and a gurgle as Nora swung the iron bar again, smashing the man's skull. She hit him a couple more times until he fell silent, blood and flesh smeared across his face.

- What the hell, Mom, Tommy stammered, holding his hands up in shock, his knees visibly shaking. - Shut it. Listen. Nora glared at Tommy and Jimmy in turn, then spun a twisted, rambling tale about the man.

How he had once come to the park and raped a five-year-old-though for the park's reputation it was never reported in the papers. Now he was back and had already molested several children.
