Perhaps children who watch a lot of TV never get enough social time, or never learn how to entertain themselves. Perhaps TV makes kids who have nothing covet what other kids have, even if it means stealing. Or maybe it has nothing to do with the kids at all; Perhaps Mom and Dad neglected to take care of their children when they discovered that watching TV was much more fun than spending time being parents.
Or perhaps early TV shows somehow inspired criminal behavior. The Andy Griffith Show, a top television show that debuted in 1960, revolves around a friendly sheriff who never carries a gun with him and his oddly stupid assistant named Barney Fife. Is it possible that all the potential criminals who watch this duo on TV come to the conclusion that the police are nothing to fear?
