"When Jesus spoke of being launched into the deep, a word was used that has various definitions. It can mean 'profundity, mysteries, deepness, deep or profound things.' When the Lord speaks of launching us into the deep, He has a double meaning. He means that He is launching us out to the sea of humanity, but He also means that He is launching us into mysteries, into deep or profound things.
"There is something in our human nature that causes us to want to go beyond the boundaries. Sometimes boundaries are good, but far too often they represent restriction and limitation. When I come to any boundary, I am intrigued to know what lies beyond it. As Christians, we should love to go where no man has ever gone before, and when we come to any boundary, we should believe God to remove it for us so that we can go forward to new discoveries.
"When you launch out into the deep, there will always be mysteries, and there will also be the revelation of mysteries. In the deep, facades are stripped away and illusions disappear. In the deep, clarity comes. And, when you are in the deep, Satan cannot fool you.
"As Christians, we make many mistakes in life because we walk by sight, guided by our feelings. This is dangerous because things are often not what they seem to be. What appears to be reality is often not reality at all. God's Spirit is the reality we can all trust, and as we move into deeper spiritual waters, part of the benefit we receive is clarity of thought. In the deep, truth becomes clear to us. This, then, is what we mean by His Wonders in the Deep." - Andy McDougal
