After Franklin Marshall's death, Carolyn discovered that her controlling husband had been cheating on her. In addition, his lies turned their three grown sons against her. Alone, and with the help of friends, Carolyn slowly learns to live her own life.

For the first year, Carolyn begins to discover who she is and what she likes. Between work and friends, she spends her time cleaning out the house that she has lived in for most of her life. She has finally begun to let go of her anger towards Franklin.

But there are still too many memories for her to heal. Carolyn finally decides that the only way to move on mentally is to move physically. With her friends' support, she buys a business and moves to the coast. Here, she must learn to forgive and trust again. She must make new friends, find success, and seek her own happiness.
