In retrospect Abigail found it hard to believe she acted the way she did when a naked stranger collapsed in through her front door on a snowy nigh.
Being widowed and living alone should have made her do the opposite of what she actually did. But having dragged him inside, closed the front door on the freezing winter night and checked his pulse, she left him on the hall floor wrapped in blankets and just waited for him to wake up.
He said he had been shunted sideways from another timestream, a parallel existence where everything was different. But for some reason this bizarre claim didn't make her call the police. Instead she simply agreed to hide him until something could be worked out.
Where was her normal caution with men who tried to get close to her and her money? Why was she not frightened of him? Not to mention the fact that she had never believed in anything remotely paranormal either ...
