Autorenporträt
Growing up in South Philly and later moving to Brooklyn, after graduating from Tilden H. S. Fergus MacRoich worked for New York Life Insurance Company, and flew helicopter rescue in Selma, Alabama during the Civil Rights Movement for the Air Force Medical Corps. In addition to working as a language teacher at the University of Alaska (1978-1997), he has worked as a house builder, pipefitter, orderly in a hospital, gardener, landscaper, bartender in one of Fairbanks' worst bars, and other jobs. He has a B.A. in Russian Studies,a Masters and Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University in Russian Literature with a minor in French Literature, and a B. A. in Spanish literature. He worked as a Green Beret language instructor at Fort Bragg, NC from 1975-78 and was the poetry editor for Paper Radio for several years. He has lived in Mexico, Spain, France, Russia, and Texas. After living in Alaska for 35 years he now lives in Bellingham, WA.
