I stepped closer, eyes scanning the darkened interior of the ship. Every panel hummed with latent power. Every light flickered as if aware of me.

"This isn't supposed to exist," I muttered under my breath.

Existence is relative," the AI replied. "I am operational."

A chill ran down my spine. A battleship that thought. That's what I learned. That knew my name before I spoke it aloud. And now, it was mine.

I swallowed, gripping the rail. "Alright, then. Let's see what you can do."

The ship pulsed, almost in acknowledgment. And in that moment, I knew my life had just changed,and that the universe I thought I understood had become infinitely more dangerous.
