Produktbeschreibung
Introduction to Hermeneutics: The Art and Science of Interpreting the Bible is a practical theological book on hermeneutics and interpretation by Dr. Luis E. Montero. Its purpose is to help students grasp and understand how to derive meaning from biblical texts through exegesis. This book introduces essential ideas, concepts, principles, and methodologies of hermeneutics, all informed by the author's theological experiences, studies, and training. With an extensive theological education and 20 years of teaching experience at the International Apostolic Bible College (IABC), the writer is well-equipped to guide students in understanding hermeneutics. His role as the founder and shepherd of Beracah Valley of Blessing Apostolic Church in Trenton, New Jersey, along with his academic achievements-a Master's in Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary and a Doctorate in Ministry from McCormick Theological Seminary-further validate his expertise in this field. The book will explore the intriguing question, "What is hermeneutics?" It will highlight the importance of understanding epistemology and its role in hermeneutics.
Additionally, it offers a fresh perspective on how modernity has influenced the hermeneutics of Christianity, sparking readers' curiosity. Significant contributions from influential figures in hermeneutics, such as Friedrich Schleiermacher, Wilhelm Dilthey, Karl Barth, Rudolf Bultmann, and Paul Ricoeur, will also be underscored. Moreover, this book will provide unique theological insights into Pentecostal hermeneutics, addressing questions such as: What are some of the core tenets and practices of Pentecostal hermeneutics? How did Pentecostal hermeneutics respond to the modernistic, cessationist, and rationalistic approaches of Evangelical Protestants? This manuscript will present five components for developing a distinctive Pentecostal hermeneutical theology, offering a unique and enlightening perspective. It will also outline five steps for effective hermeneutics, providing practical advice drawn from the author's pastoral, exegetical, theological, and hermeneutical experiences.
