Autorenporträt

Stef Smulders, geboren 1960 in Leiden, wanderte 2008 mit seinem Mann Nico und Hund Saar nach Italien aus, um dort die B&B Villa I Due Padroni zu eröffnen. Er verkaufte sein Haus, ließ Familie und Freunde zurück und wagte den Sprung ins Ungewisse. Es war ein Abenteur Im Stil von Goodbye Deutschland.

Im Jahr 2014 berichtete Stef über seine Erlebnisse in dem Buch "Italiaanse Toestanden - Leven en overleven in Italië", Italienische Zustande - Leben und uberleben in Italien. Die positive Resonanz auf das Buch gab Stef den Anstoß, weiter über das alltägliche Leben in Italien zu schreiben.

In Juni 2023 erschien die deutsche Übersetzung des ersten Buches, Auf nach Italien - Eine wilde Achterbahnfahrt der Auswanderung, und in September schon das zweite Teil Das echte Italien - Geschichten aus dem Alltagsleben. In November erschien ein Buch uber Wörter und Redewendungen, die man während einer Italienischkurse nicht lernt: 77 Stolpersteine der italienischen Sprache.
