Autorenporträt
Kristine Johnson, a scribe by nature, worked as a certified court reporter for over twenty-five years in the unique legal climate of Downtown Las Vegas, Nevada, from 1988, while the Good Old Boys reigned, until 2007, when she retired. She arrived in the Vegas Valley wearing a diaper, riding in the backseat of a turquoise 1961 Chevrolet Impala. She grew up on dirt bikes, Pippi Longstocking, and Siddartha. In 1972, she was bussed to the first integrated school in the valley a sixth-grade center CVT Gilbert. While working on the school newspaper, she knew she must become a writer.

By the early eighties, she packed up a U-Haul and headed northwest to Sacramento, California, and put herself through school across from Ft. Sutter on K Street in Midtown, while living in a Victorian walk-up apartment on J Street next to the musician's union. Three years, a student loan, and a purple belt in Shorinji Ryu with the world renowned Butokukai organization, she graduated. Kristine passed her Boards in California and Nevada soon after and went to work in Orange County, California, cutting her teeth on preliminary hearings, medical malpractice and patent depositions.

In 1988, she returned to Las Vegas, Nevada, and landed one of thirteen coveted District Court Official Reporter positions, working for the renowned and very Honorable Thomas A. Foley. Kristine came of age learning about the law in his courtroom, creating and keeping the record for Las Vegas murder, mayhem, and its worst civil nightmares. She wrote for him until he left the bench when he passed away on Pearl Harbor Day in 1993. She also wrote for Nevada's first African-American judge, the Honorable Lee A. Gates, who was as tough to work for as Tom Foley. Both were fair, honest, and, though they often rode her hard and put her up wet, they were fun to work for.

She retired from court reporting in 2006. Kristine currently lives in Summerlin Las Vegas, where she is now writing her own stories. Look for Certified, Happy Birthday, Love Mommy, and Snowed In, all available on Amazon. Her unique writing style will enthrall and entrap you. So, get ready, readers.
